Today, I am weeping. As I asked the Lord why? Silence. I walked outside, watering a few flowers, pulling a few weeds, still with a heaviness in my heart, I wept.
Today, I am weeping. Thinking of my family, I was unaware of any immediate issues there. Is this is Lord? Silence.
Yet still, today I am weeping.
As I quieted myself, I heard the whisper, “Do you hear what I hear? Listen.”
I began to hear others weeping. Perhaps I heard the Father himself weeping.
I heard the gut-wrenching cries of mothers, crying for their sons. Black mothers weeping for their sons, shot down in the streets for no reason other than the color of their skin.
I heard white mothers weeping for their sons in the back corners of alleys, dead from overdose of cocaine.
Native American “red” mothers weeping for their sons, their babies, dying on the Trail of Tears.
Asian “yellow” mothers weeping for their sons, shot down during the TiananmenSquare massacre in China.
Afghan “brown” mothers crying for their sons, given a gun and pulled into war at ages 8, 9, and 10 in Islamic nations.
Today I am weeping for all mothers who love their sons; sons who have been captured by darkness.
I hear the weeping of Hagar as she wept for her boy.
I hear the weeping of the mothers in Egypt and in Bethlehem so long ago.
There is no greater, stronger prayer than a mother weeping for her son.
“When there was chaos in the Land, Deborah arose.”
Lord, there is chaos in our land.
Lord, where are the “Deborah’s?” Where are the Hagar’s? Do you hear? Are you weeping with us?
I believe nothing moves the heart of the Father more than a mother’s cry.
In the desert Hagar’s cry was heard and the Father sent an angel with the message, “I have heard. Here is water for your boy.”
In Egypt, the loudest cries the Father heard were the cries of the mothers whose sons were being murdered in the streets and thrown into the Nile. And the Father sent a deliverer, Moses.
This same cry was heard in the bloody streets of Bethlehem 2000 years ago. The Father sent The Deliverer, His son Jesus.
And now, there are mothers crying in our inner cities, in suburban areas, across our nation and around the world.
Years ago I sat in a prayer meeting with black mothers praying for their sons. “Lord, keep my son safe. Keep him out of jail.” I was shocked. They explained that this is the prayer for most black mothers, praying for the destiny of their sons. Not praying they would get a good job, the right college, the right profession. Praying for them to survive to adulthood.
Shocked, feeling helpless, I wept with them as I heard their stories of the inner-city violence, the gangs, the lack of opportunity for their sons. My heart was broken. Today, I remember their hearts cry, and I weep.
As I look at the protest around our nation, I don’t see many mothers out in the streets. I believe they are inside weeping, praying for their sons. “Protect my son from harm, from jail.”
I was a part of the turbulent ‘60’s and witnessed the protests across our nation over the Viet Nam War and the Civil Rights movement. Following that came the sweeping revival of the 70’s. I believe that revival came as the result of the mothers weeping for their children. The children of Berkley, Woodstock, and the march from Selma to Birmingham.
In this day, it is the weeping mothers who are carrying the weight of revival in their prayers and in their tears.
Let me be very clear. As a prayer warrior, I do not condone the violence, the lawlessness, the anger and hate filled looting and rioting.
But is there a message that is being shouted in our streets? Yes. Yes, there is.
We can no longer stand by and watch as a generation of young black men are killed in our inner-city streets and suburban neighborhoods. We have heard so many prophetic words that it will be this demographic, young black men, who will lead the Body of Christ into our next great awakening. That is why the enemy has targeted them: To try to stop the move of God in our nation. Oh, God, we need your Deliverer.
There is another message in our streets. Not all policemen are bad. In fact it is proven that only a small percentage do not stand for justice. These men and women put their lives on the line every day to protect us. They are the foot solders of the war against crime and lawlessness in our nation. Oh God, we need your Deliverer.
I have absolutely no answers of how? When? Where?
But I do know this without a doubt:
The Father hears the cries of mothers.
The Father is good.
The Father has a plan.
The Father’s arm is not short that He cannot save.
The Father is strong and mighty.
The Father is King of the Universe, and He is still in control.
The Father is the God of all flesh, and there is NOTHING too hard for Him.
So, today I weep.
I weep with mothers across my city, state, and nation.
And I KNOW: The Father hears, and he has sent a Deliverer. His son.
He will hear and He will answer.
So, today, we weep, we pray, and as a Deborah, we arise, because there is chaos in our land.

Loved this Ruthie. I’ve asked the Lord, because I’ve heard many of the prophetic voices say just as we had a literal Passover [Go in your house and stay until the plague passes over] that we would have a literal Pentecost. I asked the Lord to help me see how he was doing that. Well……I watched Cindy Jacobs, https://www.facebook.com/cindyjacobsofficial/videos/1542780512548817/.
Ruthie it was like [Act 2:8 “And how [is it that] we hear, each in our own language in which we were born? Something happened in the spiritual realm. I HEARD the voices of these brothers like no other time. I, too, have cried my eyes out. I called my former pastor and the MS. Bishop of the denomination and talked with them. The Bishop said this week it was like he ‘heard’ and ‘understood’ like he’s never even been able to. I said Lord, if this is hitting others like it hit us, well, Lord, it’s huge what You’re doing . It’s a literal Pentecost happening! Love you! I sure hope I made sense. I’m so excited!
Ruthie Young says
This is the time of a great awakening, the harvest is ready! workers are few.
Debra Rogers says
Yes and amen, you are right on target. I just read this to David and we can see not only the black men in our nation, but the whole continent of Africa, so called darkest Africa, rising in revival, led by thousands of strong, intelligent, passionate black men. Leaders in the Body of Christ. It will spread across the whole planet. Thank you for shedding so much light on a difficult subject. This mother is also praying…
Ruthie Young says
thank you Debra. This harvest will not be stolen by the enemy! we need this generation, these young men and women. I believe the Lord said, “What we see as protests in our streets, He sees as a harvest field.” What a glorious picture of the body of Christ arising and shifting nations!
Chalie says

Diane McNeil says
Praying about all the violence and demonic evil playing out in America and Israel, and felt prompted to pray warfare prayers, and this morning have prayed for all you mention the Psalms of condemnation over evil that will not repent: Psalm 35, 69, 109 and 137.
Ruthie Young says
You are correct, this is a spiritual battle for the souls of this generation. Blessings!
Kim says
Beautiful Ruthie. Years ago I heard the story about a farmer who had a fire in one of his barns that went to the chicken coop. As the farmer was walking among the remains he found a hen and flipped it over with his boot. Out from underneath her wings came all her little chicks that she had saved in the fire by sheltering them beneath her wings. This reminds me so much of the longing of the Lord in Matthew 23 where he talks about how he longed to gather his children The way a mother hen gathers her chicks under her wings. I feel a mothers love in this passage and I feel the longings of the Lord for his children.
Ruthie Young says
beautiful story, Kim. Thank you for sharing. truly a mother’s heart.

Beautiful, Ruthie.
Thus says the LORD, “ A voice is heard in Ramah, Lamentation and bitter weeping. Rachel is weeping for her children; She refuses to be comforted for her children,.. “Jeremiah 31:15
Ruthie Young says
Thank you my friend. That was the sound I was hearing, Rachel weeping for her children.
